With a pair of albums and a couple of minor hits under their belts, Ambrosia signed to Warner Bros. for LIFE BEYOND L.A. The 1978 collection proved to be the breakthrough release for the SoCal quartet as the set's “How Much I Feel” soared into the Top 10. Ambrosia's affinity for hooks, imaginative arrangements and sardonic sense of humor (see “Angola”) are front-and-center on this album, which adds touches of jazz and funk to the melodic progressive rock of the band's earlier efforts. Vocalist/multi-instrumentalist David Pack was born on this day in 1952, and we'll celebrate the birthday with fan favorite LIFE BEYOND L.A.
